Kathmandu, 11 June: The sixth phase of Chinese language training for Nepalese tourism professionals has been started in Kathmandu. Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Hit Bahadur Tamang and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song inaugurated the training on Tuesday at Nepal Tourism Board.
The class conducted by the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu in collaboration with Nepal Tourism Board and Nepal China Cultural and Educational Council will last for 6 months.
Inaugurating the event Minister Tamang said that the Chinese language will help in expanding relations between Nepal and the prosperous superpower China, a big source of Nepal’s tourism, Minister Tamang made it clear that although the Chinese language is difficult, it is becoming indispensable for the manpower of Nepal’s tourism sector.
In the program, Ambassador Chen shared his experience that Nepalese people learnt Chinese language relatively quickly and speak clearly.
Ambassador Chen said that Chinese language was not only the ancient history but also the basis of scientific development. Informing that many traders and investors are preparing to come to Nepal, he said that their first need is manpower who can speak Chinese. He wished the class success.
Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Board, Hikmat Singh Ayer, mentioned that language was a powerful weapon in tourism hospitality and expressed his belief that the world’s second largest language class will help promote Chinese tourism in Nepal. He also requested the Chinese government, through the ambassador, to open more border ports between Nepal and China.
Informing that 200 people who have received training are active in the tourism business in Nepal, the president of the Council, Dr. Harishchandra Shah said that there was a huge demand for conducting Chinese language classes outside the capital city.
