Kathmandu, Oct 4: China has provided relief materials worth nearly Two crore rupees to the flood victims of Nepal.
In the presence of representatives of various political parties of Nepal, the International Department of the Chinese Communist Party provided materials such as rice, lentils, mosquito net, toothpaste, brush, soap, sanitary pads, blankets, mats, pressure cookers, among the others.
Counselor Wang Xin, Deputy Chief the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu, handed over a check of Rs 19 million 70 thousand received from the Chinese Communist Party, jointly to the Central Committee Member of Nepali Congress Madhu Acharya, Head of China Desk under the Foreign Affairs Department of CPN-UML Gopal Khanal , CPN Maoist Center Politburo member Surya Subedi, CPN United Socialist Deputy General Secretary Ram Kumar Bhattarai.
Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No. 12 will distribute the relief materials prepared under the management of the Chinese Foundation for Rural Development, an international non-governmental organization.
After handing over the assistance, Councilor Wang mentioned that China stands with Nepal in the disaster and said that the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese Red Cross Society have provided assistance to the flood victims of Nepal. He expressed his belief that the efforts of Nepal government and various political parties will get rid of the disaster at the earlier date.
Chairman of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No. 12 Balkrishna Maharjan informed that tokens have been distributed to the real victims and relief materials will be distributed based on those tokens.
Earlier, the Red Cross Society of China had provided one hundred thousand US dollars to the Nepal Red Cross Society.
A few days ago, the Chinese ambassador to Nepal Chen Song, handed over a check equal to that amount to Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak at the Ministry of Home Affairs of Nepal.
