China Southern Airlines’ Inaugural Flight from Kathmandu to Guangzhou Strengthens China-Nepal Air Corridor

Kathmandu, Feb 21:  On February 20, 2025, China Southern Airlines Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as ‘China Southern Airlines’ officially launched the A320NEO aircraft on the Kathmandu-Guangzhou regular round-trip route. The inaugural flight CZ6068 took off from Kathmandu at 12:29 local time, carrying 146 passengers and 948 kilograms of cargo, and successfully arrived at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. This milestone marks a significant step forward in the construction of the China-Nepal air corridor.

This route upgrade coincides with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Nepal. It aims to optimize the air route, promote exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in tourism, culture, and trade, strengthen bilateral relations, and provide passengers with a more convenient and comfortable air bridge.

A320NEO Aircraft Upgrade Enhances Capacity and Passenger Experience

The upgraded route now uses the A320NEO aircraft, which offers significant improvements in both performance and seating capacity compared to the previously operated A319NEO.

The A320NEO’s fuselage is 3.73 meters longer, with 15 additional seats, and the maximum takeoff weight has increased to 79 tons, significantly enhancing passenger and cargo capacity. The new aircraft features a more spacious cabin and optimized seating arrangements, providing passengers with a quieter, more comfortable flying experience and the premium service that China Southern Airlines is known for.

To ensure a smooth journey, China Southern Airlines has specially assigned an experienced cabin crew to provide efficient and attentive in-flight service, guaranteeing a high-quality travel experience for every passenger.

Currently, China Southern Airlines is actively applying for additional flight slots on the Kathmandu route. In the future, the airline plans to increase flight frequency to meet growing market demand and facilitate closer people-to-people and trade exchanges between China and Nepal.
