Chennai secures second win in IPL 2025

Agency, April 15: Chennai Super Kings clinched their second victory of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season with a five-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday night.

Chasing a target of 167 runs, Chennai reached 168 for 5 in 19.3 overs. Shivam Dube led the charge with a solid 43 runs, while Rachin Ravindra contributed 37. Shaik Rasheed added 27 runs, and skipper MS Dhoni finished it off in style with a quickfire 26.

For Lucknow, Ravi Bishnoi was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets. Digvijay Rathore, Avesh Khan, and Aiden Markram took one wicket each.

Earlier, after losing the toss and being asked to bat first on their home ground, Lucknow posted a competitive total of 166 for 7 in 20 overs. Captain Rishabh Pant top-scored with a fluent 63 off 49 balls, smashing four fours and four sixes. Mitchell Marsh added 30, Ayush Badoni 22, and Abdul Samad chipped in with 20 runs.

Chennai’s bowling attack was led by Ravindra Jadeja and Matheesha Pathirana, both picking up two wickets each. Khalil Ahmed and Anshul Kamboj took one wicket apiece.

Despite the win, Chennai remains at the bottom of the points table with 4 points from 7 matches. Meanwhile, Lucknow stays in fourth place with 8 points from the same number of games.
