Agency, September 24: London club Chelsea and Liverpool have booked their places in the fourth round of the EFL Cup after securing victories in their respective third-round matches on Tuesday night.
At LNER Stadium, Chelsea edged past Lincoln City 2–1. Tricky George and Facundo Buonanotte were on target for the Blues, while Robert Street scored the lone goal for Lincoln. Despite taking an early lead, the hosts failed to maintain momentum and eventually fell to defeat.
Meanwhile, Liverpool, who were reduced to 10 men, managed a hard-fought 2–1 win over Southampton. Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike each scored once for the Reds, while Shea Charles netted for Southampton.
