Cathay Pacific suspends flights to Nepal on the eve of Dashain

Kathmandu, Sept 16:  Cathay Pacific, an international airline, has suspended its flights to Nepal due to the destruction during the protests and the siege of the airport by protesters.

Passengers preparing to fly directly from Hong Kong to Kathmandu and from Australia via Hong Kong Transit will be affected especially for the festive season.

The Hong Kong-headquartered airline has sent a letter to the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) announcing the suspension of flights from September 15 to 30.

Issuing a press release, the airline said that it is closely following the political developments in Nepal and there is a possibility of resumption of flights from September 30. In case of cancellation of flights, passengers will have the option to postpone the flight schedule after October 1 or to get a refund.

The airline operates 1 flight daily from Hong Kong to Kathmandu.
