Call for making seventh round talks with Britain result-oriented

Kathmandu, June 1: The Ex-British Gorkha Satyagraha Joint Struggle Committee has called for the Nepal government to make the seventh rounds of dialogue on the issues, including equal pension to ex-Gorkha army.
At a press conference here today, Coordinator of Satyagraha Struggle Committee Bhim Bahadur Tawa Limbu warned to hit the street and knock the court doors if their demands were not addressed.

Chief Coordinator of the Committee, Krishna Bahadur Rai highlighted the need for the government to carry out necessary ground works and enable environment to make the seventh rounds talks result-oriented. He stressed the need to review the progress of the past six rounds of talks.

It may be noted that the parliamentary committee under the House of Representatives had issued two directives to the government to make necessary consultations with the UK government in a way to address the demands of British Ex-Gorkha army.

Rai asserted that delay was being caused to address their demands due to colonial mindsets of the British government and lack of necessary preparation on part of the Nepal government.
A total of 4,000 Nepali youths are in service in the British Army and the number of retired Gorkhas has exceeded 18,000, the struggle committee shared.
