Call for complaints against proposed Chief Justice and two ambassadors

Kathmandu, Sept 20: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee has invited complaints for hearing against the proposed Chief Justice and two ambassadors.

The committee’s meeting held today called for complaints against the proposed Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut, the proposed Nepali Ambassador to Belgium Sewa Lamsal and the proposed Nepali Ambassador to Australia Chitralekha Yadav.

It is mentioned in the notice issued by the committee today that the complaints can be lodged at the secretariat of the committee or the district administration office within 10 days.

In addition, the complainant has to disclose one’s name, surname, hometown address and phone number clearly, but can keep it confidential if he/she wanted to.

The meeting of the Constitutional Council on September 16 had decided to recommend Raut, the senior most justice of the Supreme Court, for appointment as the next Chief Justice.

The term of office of the incumbent Chief Justice Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha is coming to an end on October 5. After that, the proposed Chief Justice Raut will hold the Judiciary for 18 months if approved by the hearing committee. The cabinet meeting recommended Sewa Lamsal as Nepalese ambassador to Belgium and Chitralekha Yadav as Nepalese ambassador to Australia.
