Kathmandu, Dec 12 : Nepal on Thursday expanded its Council of Ministers, with four newly appointed ministers taking the oath of office and secrecy at the President’s Office.
President Ram Chandra Paudel administered the oath to Kumar Singh Ingnam as Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation; Rajendra Singh Bhandari as Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security; Madhav Chaulagain as Minister for Forests and Environment; and Shraddha Shrestha as Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens.
The appointments were made on the recommendation of Prime Minister Sushila Karki. With the latest expansion, the cabinet formed on September 12 has now grown to 14 members.
The ceremony was attended by Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Karki, Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut, Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire, National Assembly Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal, senior government officials, ministers, and heads of security agencies.
The Karki-led cabinet—formed in the wake of the Gen-Z protests of September 8 and 9—had previously been expanded on September 15, September 22, and October 25.
