Kathmandu, Dec 6: Biratnagar Kings won the today’s first match held under the ongoing second Nepal Premier League (NPL), defeating Sudurpashchim Royals by 6 wickets and securing a spot in the qualifier.
In the match held at Tribhuvan University (TU) Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Biratnagar met the target of 148 set by Sudurpashchim in just 11.5 overs, losing four wickets.
Sam Heazlett and Faf du Plessis both scored half-centuries, with Sam making 51 and Faf 50. For Sudurpashchim, Abinash Bohora claimed two wickets, while Harmeet Singh took one.
Earlier, Sudurpashchim lost the toss and was asked to bat first, scoring 147 for 5 in 20 overs. Aarif Sheikh remained not out with a top score of 45, while Ishan Pandey added 38 runs. Biratnagar’s captain, Sandeep Lamichhane, took three wickets, and Pratis GC claimed one.
With this win, Biratnagar is set to face Sudurpashchim again in the first qualifier. Sudurpashchim had already secured their spot in the qualifier by winning all six of their previous matches.
