Bipin’s Body Brought Back to Nepal

Kathmandu, Oct 20:  The body of Nepali student Bipin Joshi, who was killed after being taken hostage by Hamas, was brought to Nepal from Israel on Monday afternoon.

Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Communications Minister Jagdish Kharel, Energy Minister Kulman Ghising, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present at Tribhuvan International Airport to pay their final respects. Prime Minister Karki draped the national flag over Joshi’s body as a mark of honor.

Joshi’s remains were later taken to his hometown in Kanchanpur, where the final rites are scheduled to be performed today.

A student from Kanchanpur, Joshi had gone to Israel for higher studies. He was taken hostage on October 7, 2023, during a Hamas attack in a kibbutz area. His whereabouts had remained unknown until October 13, when Israeli authorities confirmed his death.
