Agency, April 27: Catalan giants Barcelona have lifted the Copa del Rey title after a thrilling victory over Real Madrid. In Saturday night’s final, Barcelona defeated their arch-rivals 3-2, keeping their hopes of a historic treble alive.
The match, played at the Estadio Olímpico de Sevilla, saw goals from Pedri, Ferran Torres, and Jules Kounde for Barcelona, while Kylian Mbappe and Aurelien Tchouameni were on target for Real Madrid.
Pedri opened the scoring for Barcelona in the 28th minute, giving his side an early lead.
However, Madrid responded strongly in the second half. Mbappe brought them level with a goal in the 70th minute, and just seven minutes later, Tchouameni headed home to put Los Blancos 2-1 ahead.
Barcelona fought back late, with Ferran Torres scoring an 84th-minute equalizer to send the match into extra time after the regular 90 minutes ended 2-2.
In the 116th minute of extra time, it was Jules Kounde who stepped up to become the hero, firing in the decisive goal and sealing a memorable 3-2 win for Barcelona.
