Barcelona, Jan 8: Barcelona have booked their place in the final of the Supercopa de Espana with a dominant 5–0 victory over Athletic Club in Wednesday night’s semifinal.
The match, played at the Alinma Bank Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, saw Barcelona put on a clinical attacking display. Raphinha starred with two goals, while Ferran Torres, Fermín López, and Ronny Bardghji each found the back of the net once.
Barcelona took an early lead in the 22nd minute through Ferran Torres. Fermín López doubled the advantage in the 30th minute, and just four minutes later, Ronny Bardghji made it 3–0, putting Barcelona firmly in control. Raphinha then struck in the 38th minute to give Barcelona a commanding 4–0 lead at halftime.
The Brazilian winger completed his brace in the 52nd minute, extending Barcelona’s lead to 5–0. Despite chances at both ends, no further goals were scored, and Barcelona comfortably saw out the match.
With the defeat, Athletic Club have been eliminated from the competition. The second semifinal, scheduled for today, will see Real Madrid take on Atlético Madrid, with the winner set to face Barcelona in the final.
