Agency, March 15: London club Arsenal strengthened their grip on the top of the English Premier League table after securing a 2-0 victory over Everton on Saturday night, extending their lead to nine points.
Playing at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal left it late to seal all three points, with Viktor Gyökeres and Max Dowman scoring one goal each.
With the match heading towards a draw, Gyökeres broke the deadlock in the 89th minute to hand Arsenal the crucial lead.
Arsenal then wrapped up the victory deep into injury time, as Max Dowman found the net in the seventh minute of stoppage time to make it 2-0.
With the win, Arsenal remain at the top of the Premier League standings with 70 points from 31 matches, while Everton, who have played one game fewer, sit in eighth place with 43 points.
