Arsenal extend EPL lead with 4–0 win over Leeds

Agency, Feb 1: London club Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the English Premier League table with a comfortable victory on Saturday night. Arsenal thrashed Leeds United 4–0 at Elland Road to strengthen their position at the summit.

Martin Zubimendi opened the scoring in the 27th minute to give Arsenal an early advantage. The visitors doubled their lead in the 38th minute after Leeds goalkeeper Karl Darlow scored an own goal. Viktor Gyökeres added the third in the 69th minute, before Gabriel Jesus sealed the emphatic win with a late goal in the 86th minute.

With the victory, Arsenal moved to 53 points from 24 matches to remain top of the standings, while Leeds United stayed 16th with 26 points from the same number of games.

In another match played on the same night, Liverpool secured a 4–1 win over Newcastle United at Anfield. Hugo Ekitike struck twice for the hosts, while Florian Wirtz added another goal. Anthony Gordon scored the lone goal for Newcastle.

Following the win, Liverpool climbed to fifth place with 39 points from 24 matches. Newcastle, who have collected 33 points from the same number of games, slipped to tenth in the league table.
