APF suffer back to back defeats in AFC Women’s Champions League

Kathmandu, August 28: Nepal’s departmental side, Nepal APF Club, endured their second consecutive defeat in the AFC Women’s Champions League preliminary round, ending their hopes of qualification.

On Thursday evening at the Markaziy Stadium, APF were comprehensively beaten 4-0 by Thailand’s College of Asian Scholars. Forward Kanayanat Chetthabutr stole the show, netting all four goals for the Thai champions.

She broke the deadlock in the 34th minute and doubled the advantage deep into first-half stoppage time. After the break, Chetthabutr completed her hat-trick in the 54th minute and added her fourth just 9 minutes later, securing a commanding victory.

The result leaves Scholars top of the group with six points from two matches, while APF remain rooted to the bottom without a point. Earlier, the Nepali side had fallen 3-0 to Uzbekistan’s PFC Nasaf in their opening fixture.
