Air France will resume flights to Madagascar on Saturday after suspending the service a week earlier due to protests that drove president Andry Rajoelina from power, the airline said.
“Air France plans to resume flights between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Antananarivo from Saturday October 18,” the French national airline told AFP on Friday.
Earlier Friday, army colonel Michael Randrianirina was sworn in as Madagascar’s president after the military took power. He vowed sweeping reforms, following weeks of anti-government protests in the poverty-stricken island nation.
Air France has six weekly flights scheduled to Madagascar.
The airline said passengers who had their flights cancelled can reschedule free-of-charge, or request a refund, and those with bookings for the coming days can postpone their trip.
Air France had suspended its service to Antananarivo because of “the security situation at the destination”.
