Kathmandu, Nov 5: Nepali Congress Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka has said that the general convention schedule proposed by Deputy General Secretary Mahendra Yadav is a personal proposal.
During Tuesday’s Central Working Committee meeting, General Secretary Gagan Thapa presented a plan to hold the party’s general convention from January 1 to 4 (Poush 16–19). In response, Yadav, representing the establishment faction, proposed holding it in April (Baisakh).
Addressing Wednesday’s meeting, Acting President Khadka clarified that Yadav’s proposal does not represent the party’s official position. “His timetable is personal,” Khadka said.
The Nepali Congress remains divided over the timing of the general convention — with the establishment faction in favor of holding it after the upcoming elections, while the rival faction insists it should take place beforehand.
