Gagan Thapa Questions Government Over Unpublished Probe Reports

Kathmandu, Nov, 1 :  Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has questioned the government’s practice of forming investigation committees but withholding their reports from the public, raising concerns over transparency and accountability.

Speaking at a special press briefing at the party’s central office in Sanepa on Sunday, Thapa said the government’s failure to make previous investigation reports public had undermined public confidence in its commitment to impartial investigations.

He demanded answers regarding reports prepared by committees formed to investigate allegations surrounding the Home Minister’s assets, the Bhadra 24 incident and the Kaptanganj incident in Sunsari.

“We have serious questions about whether investigations conducted by the government can be impartial. Given past precedents, even the purpose of forming investigation committees has become questionable,” Thapa said.

He accused the government of selectively using investigation reports when they serve its interests while keeping others confidential.

Thapa said withholding such reports weakened the government’s accountability to citizens. He also urged the public to remain vigilant and continuously monitor government activities to ensure transparency and accountability.
