Al Nassr extend winning run with 3-1 victory over Al Faisaly

Agency, Oct 24: Defending champions Al Nassr continued their impressive form in the Saudi Pro League, securing their third consecutive victory with a 3-1 win over Al Faisaly on Friday night.

Playing at Al Majma’ah Sports City Stadium, Al Nassr took an early lead through Abdullah Al Hamdan, while an own goal from Al Faisaly defender Andre Girotto and a late strike from Angelo sealed the victory. Theo Bongonda scored the only goal for Al Faisaly.

Al Nassr got off to a flying start, with Al Hamdan finding the net in the fourth minute to give his side an early advantage.

The visitors doubled their lead in the 49th minute when Girotto inadvertently turned the ball into his own net. Four minutes later, Cristiano Ronaldo thought he had extended Al Nassr’s advantage, but his goal was ruled out for offside.

Al Faisaly attempted to fight back when Bongonda scored in the 66th minute, reducing the deficit to 2-1 and raising hopes of a comeback.

However, Angelo put the result beyond doubt in the 79th minute, scoring Al Nassr’s third goal to secure all three points for the defending champions.

With the victory, Al Nassr climbed to second place in the league standings with 25 points from 10 matches. Al Faisaly, meanwhile, remained seventh with seven points from the same number of games.
