Flood death toll hits 60 in Thailand with fresh storm alert

Thailand’s flood-related death toll has risen to 60 as of 6 a.m. Wednesday, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported.

Flooding still persists in Bangkok and 27 other provinces, with some 1.15 million households currently affected, it added.

Meanwhile, the Thai Meteorological Department issued an alert on Wednesday, warning that heavy to torrential rain, strong winds and hail are in store for the northern, northeastern, central, eastern and southern parts of the country from Oct. 9 to 13.
