We stand with govt during national crisis: Opposition parties

Kathmandu, Sept 10: The opposition parties, including the Nepali Congress (NC), have said they stand together with government at such hour of national crisis.

The political parties representing in the House of Representatives (HoR) had a meeting at NC parliamentary party office, Singha Durbar, today. They thanked the government for its efforts on search, rescue and relief works carried out so far since the Bhotekoshi flood disaster occurred on August 26. They also drew the government’s attention to correct the weakness on disaster responses.

Following the meeting, deputy leader of parliamentary party of the CPN UML, Padma Aryal, told media that there were some flaws in the initial response to disaster. If the government had held discussions and sought suggestions on time, the flaws could be minimized, she argued.

According to leader Aryal, the government has been suggested providing immediate relief and rehabilitation to the flood displaced ones in addition to the rescue works. The meeting also decided to extend full support to the government in its campaign at this hour of grief.

“In view of huge disaster the country has faced, political agenda are kept aside. We’re united for the disaster responses- search, rescue, rehabilitation and sympathy,” she shared.

The meeting was attended by the NC, UML, Nepali Communist Party, Shram Sanskriti Party.
