Apple unveils first foldable iPhone Duo

Agency, Sep 10: Apple has unveiled the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, featuring a new design, dual displays and the company’s latest A20 Pro chip.

The iPhone Duo was announced on Wednesday, September 9, with Apple describing it as a major transformation in the iPhone lineup. When unfolded, the device features a 7.6-inch inner display, while the outer display measures 5.4 inches when the phone is folded.

The inner display features a nano-texture finish designed to reduce glare and minimize the visibility of the crease. Both displays support ProMotion, Always-On functionality and up to 3,000 nits of peak outdoor brightness.

The device is built with grade 5 titanium and features a precision hinge designed for durability. It also comes with an IP68 rating for splash, water and dust resistance.

The iPhone Duo is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip and includes an advanced thermal management system with a custom vapor chamber. Apple says the device can deliver up to 35 percent better sustained performance than the iPhone 17 Pro.

For photography, the phone features a 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera and a 48-megapixel Fusion Ultra Wide camera. The device also introduces new camera features made possible by its foldable design, including Smart Take, Duo Preview and Duo FaceTime.

The iPhone Duo runs on iOS 27, which has been redesigned to take advantage of the larger foldable display. It supports new multitasking features, including Split View, allowing users to run two apps side by side.

The device also comes with Apple Intelligence and the new Siri AI, which Apple says provides more personalized and conversational assistance by using information across supported apps and services.

The iPhone Duo uses a dual-battery architecture and offers up to 31 hours of video playback on the inner display and up to 44 hours on the outer display, according to Apple.

The phone will be available in Star White and Night Sky, with storage options ranging from 256GB to 2TB. It starts at $1,999 in the United States.

Pre-orders will begin on October 16, while the iPhone Duo will officially go on sale from October 23 in more than 70 countries and regions.

Apple has also introduced new accessories for the device, including the iPhone Duo Case and iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand.
