Kathmandu, Sept 7: The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation has made significant progress in restoring power to regions severely affected by recent flooding. In contrast, nearly all residences in Dhading (99.8%) and a substantial majority in Nuwakot (96.7%) have had their electricity reinstated, despite the adverse weather conditions.
These districts adversely affected by the Bhotekoshi flash floods on August 26 and aftermath.
A committed technical team from the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is actively engaged in restoring power to the remaining households in Rasuwa. Search and rescue operations are currently underway at several hydropower facilities, including Upper Trishuli-3A and 3B, Chilime, and Rasuwagadhi.
To facilitate these efforts, crucial equipment such as mud pumps and generators has been airlifted to the sites. Rescue teams have successfully accessed the Rasuwagadhi powerhouse, and debris removal is ongoing at various locations, including Upper Trishuli-3B, where mini excavators are diligently working.
In addition to immediate restoration efforts, the Ministry is also prioritizing long-term energy solutions by dispatching solar power systems to the affected regions.
To date, 13 office and 500 household solar power systems have been sent, with plans to distribute additional systems to 1,268 households in Rasuwa.
The Ministry has coordinated the transportation of these solar systems by helicopter to affected areas.
