KATHMANDU, September; China is preparing to send a second batch of emergency disaster relief supplies to Nepal today to support areas affected by the recent floods and other disasters, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday.
Speaking at the regular press conference of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Guo said providing emergency assistance to disaster-affected areas of Nepal and carrying out international rescue cooperation was an important political decision made by China, reflecting its friendly ties with Nepal.
The second batch of Chinese relief supplies is expected to depart for Nepal today. The assistance includes drones, DNA testing equipment and reagents, water purification equipment, lighting equipment and other urgently needed supplies.
Guo also said that Chinese DNA identification experts would travel to the disaster-affected areas to assist their Nepali counterparts with identification and related work.
“China will stand firmly together with Nepal and work hand in hand to overcome the difficulties,” Guo said, emphasizing that China would demonstrate the traditional friendship between the two neighboring countries through concrete actions.
The latest assistance comes as Nepal continues rescue, relief and recovery efforts in areas affected by severe flooding and related disasters. The Chinese support is expected to contribute to emergency response, identification efforts, access to clean water and essential services in the affected areas.
China and Nepal have maintained close cooperation in disaster response and humanitarian assistance, particularly in areas along their shared border.
