Kathmandu, Aug 25: President Ramchandra Paudel has performed ritual shadow darshan of Kalash (urn) in course of the Kalash Yatra (urn procession) of historical and traditional Changunarayan.
The participants of the Changunarayan Kalash Yatra, along with the priests, reached the President’s residence, Sheetal Niwas, this evening.
President Paudel cast his shadow over the kalash and received tika, flowers, and prasad.
According to this ancient tradition, today the priest carried the silver idols of the Changunarayan deity, Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Saraswati along with the ritualistic urn filled with holy water from Changunarayan Temple in Bhaktapur to Hanumandhoka in Kathmandu. The members of the procession had travelled on foot from Changunarayan to Hanumandhoka.
After the ritualistic worship there, it is customary for the Head of State to cast shadow over the kalash and receive tika, flowers, and prasad.
