Kathmandu, Aug 16: : Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday to receive the honorary rank of General of the Nepali Army.
Seth arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport in the afternoon on an Air India flight. During his visit, he is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with senior Nepali officials.
He is scheduled to meet Prime Minister and Defence Minister Balendra Shah and Chief of the Nepali Army Staff General Ashok Raj Sigdel.
Seth, who assumed office as the Indian Army Chief on June 30, will be conferred the honorary rank of General of the Nepali Army.
President Ram Chandra Paudel will confer the honorary rank insignia on General Seth at a special ceremony at Sheetal Niwas on Monday.
Nepal and India have a longstanding tradition of conferring the honorary rank of General on each other’s army chiefs. In accordance with this tradition, Seth is being honoured with the honorary rank during his Nepal visit.
