Floods in Modikhola, locals urged to remain vigilant

Parbat, July 12: Heavy rain since this morning has caused flooding in Modikhola. Flooding has occurred in Kimrung, Annapurna Rural Municipality-11 of Kaski, while landslides have occurred in various places due to the rain.

The flood has also caused damage in various places in the Kaski region.
Meanwhile, all concerned have been urged to exercise caution after the water level in Modikhola increased since 3:00 pm.

The District Administration Office, Parbat, Modi Rural Municipality has urged residents living in the coastal areas to be vigilant.

Similarly, Modi Rural Municipality has also urged the general public to take necessary precautions.

Meanwhile, all four power plants operating in Modikhola have stopped production due to excessive flow in the river. Madhyamodi, Modikhola, Lower Modi and United Modi Hydroelectric Projects have stopped production.

Production has been stopped due to the risk of damage to the equipment due to flooding and stones, sand and other objects entering the power plant, said Surendra Belbase, Public Relations Officer of Lower Modi Hydroelectric Project.

In the mean time, additional police have been mobilized in the upstream of Modikhola for security precautions, said Vijay Yadav, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office.
