Constitution amendment thru national consensus: NCP parliamentary party

Kathmandu, July 9: Member of Parliament from the Nepali Communist Party Pramesh Kumar Hamal, has viewed the amendment of constitution would be based on national consensus.

During today’s House of Representatives meeting, representing the NCP parliamentary party, Hamal articulated that amendments are essential for enhancing democracy, federalism, secularism, inclusiveness and fundamental rights. Although his party has distanced itself from the working group responsible for drafting the discussion paper on constitutional amendments, Hamal clarified that they do not oppose the fundamental issues surrounding the amendments.

He, however, expressed concerns over potential weakening of parliamentary practices if the government continues to issue ordinances to address urgent needs, suggesting that this could undermine the legislative process.
