Heavy rain forecast for Gandaki, Lumbini, and Far West Regions

Kathmandu, July 5: The ongoing influence of monsoon winds is leading to generally cloudy conditions across the country, particularly affecting the Gandaki, Lumbini, and Far West regions.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in various areas, including parts of the Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki regions, as well as some hilly areas in Lumbini.

Forecasts indicate that the Himalayan and hilly regions will remain predominantly cloudy, with the Terai regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces also expected to experience mostly cloudy skies. There is a significant likelihood of moderate rain with thunder and lightning in these areas, as well as in parts of the Terai regions of Koshi, Madhes, and Bagmati provinces.

Notably, heavy rain is anticipated in certain locations within Gandaki and Lumbini, as well as in select hilly and Terai areas of Sudurpashchim Province. Additionally, the Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces are expected to remain cloudy tonight, while the rest of the provinces will experience partly to mostly cloudy conditions.

Rain and snow, along with thunder and lightning, may occur in some Himalayan regions. The Division has advised residents to take necessary precautions due to the potential for heavy rainfall in specific areas, particularly in the hills and plains of the Sudurpashchim Province.
