France and Morocco advance to FIFA World Cup 2026 Quarter-Finals

Kathmandu, July 7: France and Morocco have secured their places in the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2026 after impressive Round of 16 victories on Sunday morning.

France edged past Paraguay with a narrow 1-0 win at Philadelphia Stadium. The breakthrough came in the 70th minute when Kylian Mbappé calmly converted a penalty to score the match’s only goal.

The first half ended goalless, with both sides creating limited opportunities. Mbappé’s decisive strike proved enough to send France into the last eight. The goal was his seventh of the tournament, further strengthening his position among the competition’s top scorers.

With the victory, France progressed to the quarter-finals, while Paraguay’s World Cup journey came to an end.

France will now face Morocco in a highly anticipated quarter-final clash.

Earlier, Morocco booked their place in the last eight with a dominant 3-0 victory over co-hosts Canada at Houston Stadium. Azzedine Ounahi starred with a brace, while Soufiane Rahimi added another goal to seal a convincing win and Morocco’s place in the quarter-finals.
