Kathmandu, July 1: Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Nepal, Fahd Mohammad A. Manikh, paid a courtesy call on Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal at the latter’s office today.
During the meeting, Speaker Aryal stated that the Federal Parliament of Nepal is interested in collaborating with the Shura Council of Saudi Arabia and informed that a Nepal-Saudi Arabia Parliamentary Friendship Group has been formed as per the recent decision of the Federal Parliament.
He also expressed confidence that cooperation between the parliaments of both countries on issues of mutual interest would be facilitated through the group, according to the Speaker’s private secretariat.
Likewise, Speaker Aryal expressed gratitude for the increased cooperation between Nepal and Saudi Arabia in the field of labour migration and expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia giving priority to Nepalis.
Ambassador Manikh stated that he was working to further strengthening the relations between Saudi Arabia and Nepal and is committed to expanding labour, trade, investment, tourism and people-to-people contacts between the two countries.
It may be noted that Nepal and Saudi Arabia are observing the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2027.
According to the Ministry of Youth, Labour and Employment, there are currently 384,865 Nepalis working in Saudi Arabia.
