Kathamandu, June 21: Netherlands produced a dominant display to secure a convincing 5-1 victory over Sweden in the FIFA World Cup 2026 on Saturday night.
At Houston Stadium, Brian Brobbey and Cody Gakpo both scored twice, while Crysencio Summerville added a late goal to complete the rout. Anthony Elanga scored Sweden’s lone goal.
The Dutch took the lead early when Brobbey found the net in the fifth minute before doubling the advantage with his second goal in the 17th minute.
Gakpo extended the lead shortly after halftime, scoring in the 47th minute, and added his second goal seven minutes later to make it 4-0. Elanga pulled one back for Sweden in the 59th minute, but Summerville capped off an impressive performance with a goal in the 89th minute to seal a comprehensive 5-1 victory.
The win moves the Netherlands to the top of Group F with four points from two matches, while Sweden sits second with three points.
