Kathmandu, June 2: The government has decided to extend the tenure of the study committee formed to recommend measures regarding the security mechanism mentioned in the report of the commission investigating incidents that occurred during the protests held on September 8 and 9 last year by 45 days.
Government spokesperson and Minister for Education and Sports Sasmita Pokharel said the decision was taken during Monday’s Cabinet meeting.
The Cabinet also appointed Balbhadra Banstola of Kaski as chairperson of the Land Problem Resolution Commission. Amir Prasad Neupane of Kathmandu, Padmini Soti of Lamjung and Dr Rehana Shrestha of Kathmandu have been appointed as members of the commission.
The meeting further approved an agreement under the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) related to the implementation of the Montreal Protocol on the management and reduction of ozone-depleting substances.
In another decision, the Cabinet promoted Armed Police Force Deputy Inspector General Anjani Kumar Pokharel to the post of Additional Inspector General.
