Kathmandu, May 31 : Sarah B. Rogers, the U.S. Deputy Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy, has arrived in Kathmandu to participate in the “Ascent Summit 2026.”
During her visit, Rogers is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the summit and hold meetings with senior officials of the Government of Nepal, members of the American Chamber of Commerce, and alumni of various U.S. Department of State exchange programs, according to the U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu.
The embassy said Rogers will advocate for freedom of expression and digital freedom as key pillars of open societies and economic prosperity.
She is also expected to visit the historic Patan Durbar Square and seven heritage sites supported under the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation.
According to the embassy, the visit highlights U.S. support for preserving Nepal’s cultural heritage and underscores its commitment to safeguarding sites that remain central to Nepali culture, religious traditions, and the tourism economy.
