Kathmandu, May 20: Nepali Women National Cricket Team has defeated the host Malaysia in the first T20 International match.
Nepal won the match by two wickets in the match held at Bayuemas Oval Cricket Ground of Malaysia today.
Nepal met the 68-run victory target posted by Malaysia in 17.3 overs by losing eight wickets. For Nepal, Samjhana Khadka scored the highest 32 runs in 39 balls while Ruby Poddar and Kabita Joshi collected 15 runs and six runs respectively.
Towards bowling, Malaysia’s Nur Qalysha took three wickets as well as Aisya Eleesa and Elsa Hunter took two wickets each.
Earlier, elected to bat first after winning the toss, Malaysia made 67 runs in 16.5 overs at the loss of all wickets. Elsa Hunter made collected the highest 10 runs while other batters of could not score double digit runs.
For Nepal, Puja Mahato took three wickets while Riya Sharma and Manisha Upadhyay took two wickets each. Similarly, Kabita Kunwar and Sita Ranamagar took one wicket each.
The Nepali team, which has reached Malaysia to play Asian Qualifier and ACC Premier Cup, is playing two practice matches with Malaysia. The second practice match between Nepal and Malaysia will be held on March 22.
