Kathmandu, May 3: President Ramchandra Paudel has returned the Constitutional Council (Functions, Duties, Powers and Procedures) (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2083 to the Council of Ministers for reconsideration.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Office of the President said the ordinance, recommended by the Cabinet on April 26, has been sent back for further review of its contents.
The President’s Office also noted that a bill to amend the Constitutional Council (Functions, Duties, Powers and Procedures) Act, 2066 had earlier been presented for authentication on July 10, 2025, but was returned to the Cabinet with a message.
It further recalled that a similar ordinance received following a Cabinet decision on November 18, 2025 was not issued.
The latest ordinance has been sent back to the government for reconsideration in line with constitutional provisions, the statement added.
