PSG edge Bayern 5–4 in nine-goal Champions League semifinal thriller

In a thrilling UEFA Champions League semifinal clash, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) edged past Bayern Munich 5–4 in the first leg on Tuesday night, taking a narrow advantage into the return fixture.

Played at the Parc des Princes, the high-scoring encounter saw standout performances from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembélé, who both netted twice for PSG, while João Neves added another. For Bayern, goals came from Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Dayot Upamecano, and Luis Díaz.

Bayern struck first in the 17th minute through Kane, but Kvaratskhelia equalized just seven minutes later. Neves then gave PSG the lead in the 33rd minute before Olise converted a penalty to level the score at 2–2.

PSG regained the advantage in first-half stoppage time when Dembélé calmly slotted home from the penalty spot. The hosts came out firing after the break, with Kvaratskhelia scoring his second in the 56th minute, followed quickly by another from Dembélé to make it 5–2.

Bayern responded with resilience as Upamecano pulled one back in the 65th minute, and Díaz added another just three minutes later to bring the score to 5–4, setting up a tense finale. However, PSG held firm in the closing stages to secure the win.

The second leg between the two sides is scheduled for May 7, where Bayern will look to overturn the deficit and keep their UEFA Champions League hopes alive.
