Kathmandu, April, 28 : The Supreme Court of Nepal has ordered authorities to produce businessman Shekhar Golchha within 24 hours of receiving a court notice and to submit a written response through the Office of the Attorney General.
A single bench of Justice Nripdhwaj Niraula issued the directive while hearing a habeas corpus petition, instructing the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), Kathmandu, to present the detainee along with a written explanation within the stipulated timeframe, excluding travel time.
The petition was filed by Golchha’s wife, Seema Golchha, who alleged that he was being held unlawfully and sought his immediate release.
In its order, the court also directed that copies of the petition be served to the विपक्षी (respondents), and that the relevant investigation file be produced after the written response is submitted or the deadline lapses.
