Kathmandu, April 21: Nepal has defeated the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 8 wickets in the match played today under the International T20 Men’s Cricket Series between the two sides.
In the day-night match held at the Kirtipur-based TU Cricket Ground, Nepal achieved the victory target of 129 runs posted by the visitors in 15.5 overs at the loss of 2 wickets. Kushal Bhurtel, who came on as an opener today, scored 84 runs not out in 57 balls to steer his team to victory. He was joined by his captain Dipendra Singh Airee, who also remained not out with 23 runs in 17 balls.
Kushal Malla scored 19 runs in 17 balls while Santosh Yadav was out after scoring 1 runs in 4 balls. Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, the UAE scored 128 runs in the allotted 20 overs at the loss of eight wickets. Adeeb Usmani scored 30 runs while Akshdeep Nath, Muhammad Arfan and Muhammad Zuhaib gathered 53 runs, 32 runs and eight runs respectively.
For Nepal, Sandeep Lamichhane took three wickets while Hemant Dhami took two wickets. Similarly, Nandan yadav and Shahab Alam took one wicket each.
The series has been tied at 1-1 after Nepal lost the opener on Monday by 6 wickets in D/L method, after the match was interrupted by rain.
