Congress calls for probe into allegations against Home Minister

Kathmandu, April, 20:  The Nepali Congress has demanded an independent investigation into allegations against Home Minister Sudan Gurung, calling the issue a serious matter of political ethics and transparency.

In a statement issued on Monday, party spokesperson Devaraj Chalise said the controversy has raised significant public concern and questioned the integrity of governance.

“The recent developments involving the Home Minister have not only drawn public attention but also raised serious concerns related to political morality and transparency,” the statement said.

The party warned that the minister’s continued presence in office could potentially influence the investigation process, directly or indirectly. It stressed the need to ensure an environment that allows for a free, fair, and impartial inquiry.

The Nepali Congress has urged the government to immediately launch an independent, high-level probe into all allegations. It also cautioned that any delay, interference, or attempt to cover up the matter would undermine good governance, ethical standards, and public trust.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and principled politics.

The Home Minister has come under scrutiny following reports of his alleged links as a shareholder with intermediaries and the disclosure of unusual wealth, prompting growing calls for his dismissal.
