US embassy in Iraq’s Baghdad hit in missiles attack, security sources say

DUBAI(AP)  : International media have reported that the United States Embassy in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, has been targeted in a missile attack.

The Associated Press reported on Saturday, March 14, citing two Iraqi officials, that a missile struck inside the compound of the US Embassy.

Images also show a column of smoke and dust rising above the embassy compound.

The report states: “The sprawling embassy complex, one of the largest US diplomatic facilities in the world, has been repeatedly targeted by rockets and drones fired by Iran-aligned militias.”

There was no immediate comment from the US Embassy in Baghdad. This comes two days after an American aircraft was shot down in Iraq by the Islamic Resistance, a group backed by Iran, resulting in the deaths of six crew members.
