Nepal hands over donation amount to Myanmar

Kathmandu, Feb 16: Nepal has provided the donation of 300 thousand US dollars to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

Ambassador of Nepal to Myanmar, Harishchandra Ghimire, handed over the donation to U Than, Secretary General of Mahamuni Pagoda Trustee, Mandalay in a ceremony organised in the premises of Mahamuni Pagoda, on February 14, reads a press release issued by the Nepali Embassy in Yangon, Myanmar.

Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador Ghimire stated that Nepal and Myanmar have been supporting each other in the most difficult time. As part of this support, Nepal has donated to Myanmar for the reconstruction of Stone Inscription House in the compound of Mahamuni Pagoda in Mandalay. The Pagoda was damaged by devastating earthquake in March 2025, he added.

Similarly, acknowledging the support from Nepal, Mayor of Mandalay City, U Kyaw San, expressed his gratitude to the government of Nepal.

Similarly, Ambassador Ghimire handed over the donation amount 50,000 US dollars to President of Gangaghat Hindu Temple Trustee, Pawan Bajoria, amidst a ceremony held in Gangaghat, Mandalay.

In both ceremonies, members of local Nepali community, including President of All Myanmar Gorkha Hindu Religious Association, Sagar Ghimire, were present.
