Nepal recorded a historic victory in the SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship after defeating Maldives 5–0 on Thursday afternoon in Bangkok, Thailand. The win marks Nepal’s first-ever victory in women’s futsal history.
Jenifer Rana scored twice for Nepal, while Bimala Chaudhary and Manisha Thapa Magar added one goal each. Nepal also benefited from an own goal by the Maldives side.
In their opening match of the tournament, Nepal had drawn 2–2 against Sri Lanka.
Nepal will now face India in their third group match scheduled for Saturday.
