Case of contempt of court registered against PM Karki

Kathmandu, Nov 17: A case of contempt of court has been filed against Prime Minister Sushila Karki at the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday.

The contempt of court complaint was lodged at the SC against PM Karki for not abiding by the court’s order not to immediately implement the government decision to recall Nepal’s ambassadors from different host countries.

Legal practitioner Prem Silwal registered the case and the hearing of the case is scheduled for November 23, SC’s Spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala said.
The government on October 15 had decided to recall 11 ambassadors from different countries appointed by the erstwhile government.

However, a division bench of Justice Saranga Subedi and Shreekanta Paudel had issued an interim order not to immediately implement the decision to recall ambassadors.
A day after the SC’s interim order, the government had ordered the ambassadors to appear at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
