Kathmandu, Nov 13: The Supreme Court has denied recognition to the Janaswaraj Party, a group split from Janamat Party.
A full bench comprising senior most justice Sapana Pradhan Malla, judges Sunil Kumar Pokhrel and Meghraj Pokharel denied recognition to Janaswaraj as a political party.
The judges invoked the provision of Political Party (2nd Amendment) Ordinance, 2078; Amendment to the Political Party Division, 2074.
An ordinance was brought to amend the Act Relating to Political Party but it’s the ordinance itself was rendered ineffective. So, the provision of the existing Act was in effect, the court argued.
