Kathmandu, November 8: Departmental side Nepal APF Club has booked its place in the final of the Jhapa Women’s Gold Cup 2082, currently underway in Jhapa. In a thrilling semifinal clash on Saturday afternoon, APF edged past Tribhuvan Army Football Club 4–2 in a penalty shootout to secure their spot in the championship match.
The match, played at the Dhulabari Stadium, ended 1–1 after regulation time. APF goalkeeper Anjana Rana Magar emerged as the hero, saving two penalties to guide her team to victory. Sabita Rana Magar, Rashmi Kumari Ghising, Nisha Thokar, and Anita Basnet successfully converted their spot kicks for APF.
Earlier in the game, Army had taken the lead in the 63rd minute through Chandra Bhandari, but failed to hold onto their advantage. In the fourth minute of stoppage time, APF captain Anita Basnet scored a brilliant free-kick equalizer, forcing the match into penalties.
With the win, APF advances to the final on Monday, where they will face another departmental team, Nepal Police Club. Police reached the final after defeating Sankata Club 2–0 in the first semifinal on Friday.
