Chitwan, Oct 19: The construction of the Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium in Bharatpur is now 40 percent complete. The project is being carried out by Bharatpur Metropolitan City with support from both provincial and federal governments.
Ghanashyam Mishra, an engineer with Bharatpur Metropolitan City, stated that work is actively ongoing on the parapet and the second floor of both towers.
He mentioned that the formwork and scaffolding for the parapet and towers are being secured, and the construction of the tower walls is also in progress. He noted that the tower will have three floors. “Plastering is currently underway for the rooms situated behind the parapet. The auditorium includes four parapets and two towers,” Mishra elaborated, “At present, there are 122 workers on site daily. However, due to the Tihar festival, only 25-30 workers from the Muslim community will be available to continue the work. After Chhath, we anticipate that the pace of construction will pick up.”
He highlighted that, according to the contract agreement, 48 percent of the work was expected to be completed by now, but there has been some delay.
After the Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation was unable to proceed, the project was handed over to the Metropolitan authorities. The task of constructing the auditorium has been assigned to Himalayan Kalinchowk BBR JV.
