Court services cannot be halted even for a day: PM Karki

Kathmandu, Oct 16: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that the services provided by the law courts cannot be stopped even for a single day.

In a joint meeting with the Board of Directors of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) and the delegation of the Supreme Court, she expressed the view that court services should not be stopped.

The Secretariat of Prime Minister Karki has stated that the meeting was held to discuss alternative arrangements after the Kathmandu District Court building was damaged during the Gen-Z demonstrations on September 9.

Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Bimal Paudel, had urged the government to provide the CAAN building located in Babarmahal to the Kathmandu District Court as an alternative.

In that context, Prime Minister Karki directed that the Authority’s building be made available since court services cannot be halted.

CAAN has agreed to conditionally provide its building for the time being. PM Karki had instructed CAAN to make the building available through an understanding between it and the court.
