Kathmandu, Oct 7: The District Police Range Kathmandu has sent the First Information Report (FIR) registered by the families of those who were killed during the Gen Z Uprising to the ‘Commission of Inquiry into the Incidents of September 8-9 Protests’ citing it not within their jurisdiction.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Pawan Bhattarai shared that 4-5 of the families of the deceased had come here to register FIR today demanding action against the guilty of the incidents and they were sent to approach the Commission for the same.
Meanwhile, Commission Chairperson Gauri Bahadur Karki said that the petitions complaints have come to the commission and necessary process to this effect will be taken ahead after study.
It may be noted that the Ministry of Home Affairs issuing a statement on September 25 said the Commission will carry out investigation into the incidents of the Gen Z protests.
The commission has been mandated to receive and analyze information or petitions related to physical and human damages and to provide necessary recommendations regarding actions.
The commission was formed to investigate and report on the actual physical and human damages that occurred in Kathmandu and other parts of the country during the protests on September 8-9. The commission had begun its work from September 25.
